98 Voices—and Rising: A Tipping Point for Change

98 Voices—and Rising: A Tipping Point for Change

By Kirk Carlson, USMC Veteran | Founder, Covenant of Courage

As of today, the #ReasonableRanks petition has reached 98 signatures.

That’s 98 people who believe that getting injured while serving your country shouldn’t mean getting discarded.

98 people who agree that the military needs a new path for injured service members—one that offers continued service, dignity, and protection for the careers they’ve built.

98 people who’ve added their names to a growing movement to redefine what it means to serve.

We are two names away from our first major milestone: 100 supporters. And from there, we’ll keep building—with stories, with voices, and with action.

Why These 98 Signatures Matter

Each signature is more than a name. It’s a statement:

  • That injured veterans deserve non-combat reassignment options

  • That military retirement and healthcare should not be lost because of an injury

  • That there’s honor in support roles, admin roles, tech roles, and training roles—not just combat

The #ReasonableRanks campaign isn’t just about numbers. It’s about justice. It’s about policy reform. And it’s about reminding the Department of Defense and Congress that veterans still want to serve—even if their path looks different.

The Road Ahead

We’re calling on lawmakers, military leaders, and everyday citizens to:

  • Support reassignment pathways for injured but capable veterans

  • End systemic discharges that cut careers short

  • Protect the benefits and dignity that come with continued service

With 98 voices behind us, we’re proving this issue matters. At 100, we’ll push harder. With every name that follows, we get closer to reform.

How You Can Help

  • Sign the petition: https://chng.it/5yXYvkBtMR

  • Share the campaign on your social channels

  • Reach out to your representatives and demand a change in military discharge policy

Let’s get to 100—and beyond. Because no veteran willing to serve should be left behind.
