City of Corona Issues Official Letter of Support for #ReasonableRanks Campaign

CORONA, CA — The City of Corona has formally endorsed the #ReasonableRanks campaign, a veteran-led movement to reform military discharge policies and ensure that injured service members are granted the opportunity to continue serving with dignity and purpose.

In a letter dated June 10, 2025, Mayor Jim Steiner, on behalf of the City Council, expressed the city’s ā€œfull supportā€ for Covenant of Courage and the #ReasonableRanks campaign, calling it ā€œan important, community-led effort to reform military discharge policies and ensure that injured service members are treated with dignity, fairness, and the opportunity to continue serving in meaningful ways.ā€

ā€œCorona is proud to be home to many veterans and military families,ā€ the letter states. ā€œWe understand that service comes in many forms, and we believe military policy should reflect that truth. The #ReasonableRanks campaign isn’t just about policy reform—it’s about restoring dignity.ā€

Founded by USMC veteran Kirk Carlson, the #ReasonableRanks campaign seeks to create a formal reassignment pathway for injured, non-deployable service members who are currently forced out of uniform—despite being willing and able to continue contributing in non-combat roles.

ā€œWe’re incredibly honored to have the support of Mayor Steiner and the City of Corona,ā€ said Carlson. ā€œThis endorsement reflects what so many Americans believe: that no one should be discarded for getting injured in service to their country. Reassignment—not discharge—should be the standard.ā€

With over 180 petition signatures and growing grassroots momentum, the campaign has already gained the attention of local governments, veteran service organizations, and civil rights advocates nationwide.

The letter from the City of Corona represents a significant milestone in the campaign’s legislative and public awareness efforts, as it builds toward congressional advocacy and national policy reform.
