Dine for a Cause: Covenant of Courage Launches Memorial Day Weekend Fundraiser at Lazy Dog
This Memorial Day weekend, Covenant of Courage proudly partnered with Lazy Dog Restaurant + Bar in Corona, California, to launch a powerful three-day fundraiser aimed at supporting injured veterans, youth programs, and first responders.
From May 24–26, patrons who dined at Lazy Dog between 2:00 PM and close had the opportunity to donate 15% of their bill to Covenant of Courage—just by showing a campaign flyer. The event marked a major milestone for the nonprofit’s #ReasonableRanks campaign, which advocates for policy reform to allow injured veterans to continue serving in non-combat roles and retain their retirement benefits.
“We’re not just raising money—we’re raising awareness,” said Kirk Carlson, USMC Veteran and Founder of Covenant of Courage. “Every meal shared at Lazy Dog this weekend helped amplify the voices of injured service members who are ready, willing, and able to serve in new ways.”
Set up outside the restaurant under a shaded canopy, the Covenant of Courage table attracted attention with campaign flyers, cold water, American flags, and informative handouts about military reassignment reform. Visitors had the chance to sign the petition, speak with volunteers, and learn how their support could influence real change.
The event was more than a fundraiser—it was a tribute.
As families gathered to celebrate the holiday weekend, the campaign reminded everyone of the true meaning of Memorial Day: honoring those who’ve made the ultimate sacrifice while also standing up for those still fighting to be heard.
