Eaton Fire Update: January 15, 2025

The Eaton Fire continues to burn across Los Angeles County, having scorched 14,117 acres with containment at 45%. Below is the latest update on firefighting efforts, weather conditions, evacuation details, and resources for those affected.

Current Situation

Firefighters, assisted by aircraft, are concentrating their efforts along the northern edge of the fire. Infrared technology is being used to locate and extinguish hot spots, with residual heat largely confined to dense brush in foothill drainages.

• In Altadena, Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) teams are nearing the completion of search operations.

• Ground-based fire retardant has been applied around the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, while brush clearance continues in La Cañada.

• Utility repairs are ongoing in impacted areas to restore power and address damage.

Weather Conditions

• Tonight: Gentle offshore winds will weaken, transitioning to calm but dry conditions tomorrow.

• Weekend: Moisture may arrive, though critical fire weather conditions are expected to return early next week.
