Each year, on the 4th of July, communities across America gather to celebrate more than just fireworks, barbecues, and patriotic songs—we honor the birth of a nation founded on ideals of liberty, justice, and the enduring belief in human dignity.
This day marks the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 1776, a bold statement that declared America free from tyranny and set forth a vision where every person could pursue life, liberty, and happiness. But that freedom has never come without a cost.
From the Revolutionary War to modern-day conflicts, generations of service members—men and women alike—have stepped forward to defend the values that make this country strong. Today, we especially remember those who fought and sacrificed, not just on the battlefield, but also in quiet battles at home—recovering from wounds, facing discrimination, or pushing for justice within the very systems they served.
At Covenant of Courage, we believe that patriotism includes action. It means standing up for our veterans, ensuring women warriors receive fair treatment, and advocating for discharge reforms that recognize both visible and invisible wounds. Our flag waves not just for the past but for the future we’re still building—together.
This Independence Day, let’s honor the red, white, and blue by making sure freedom truly includes everyone. 🇺🇸
