Over Memorial Day weekend, Covenant of Courage had the privilege of joining the congregation at Beth Shalom in Corona, California to honor and remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our nation.
Founder Kirk Carlson, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and advocate for injured service members, was invited to speak during the service. His remarks reflected not only on the ultimate sacrifices made by those in uniform, but also on the ongoing responsibility we share to support their brothers and sisters in arms who return home with visible and invisible wounds.
“It was deeply moving to stand among a community that values remembrance, resilience, and action,” said Carlson. “The warm welcome I received at Beth Shalom was a powerful reminder that patriotism and compassion transcend backgrounds and beliefs. We’re all connected by our gratitude.”
During the visit, Kirk shared insights into the #ReasonableRanks campaign, a growing movement advocating for policy reform that would allow injured service members to continue serving in non-combat roles instead of being forced out of the military. He also spoke about Covenant of Courage’s broader mission to uplift veterans, first responders, and underserved youth through education, advocacy, and service.
The event included a moment of silence, prayers for the fallen, and a call to action: to remember not only with words but with deeds.
Covenant of Courage extends its deepest thanks to Beth Shalom for the opportunity to reflect, connect, and share our mission during such a meaningful weekend.
