No Veteran Left Behind: Why #ReasonableRanks Transcends Politics

By Kirk Carlson | USMC Veteran | Founder, Covenant of Courage

In a recent online exchange, a powerful reminder emerged—one that speaks to the heart of the #ReasonableRanks campaign: this fight is bigger than politics.

After being thanked for my service, someone asked a thoughtful question: why frame the campaign message in a way that appears to align with one specific political identity, like MAGA or moderate conservatism? Wouldn’t that limit support?

The truth is—it could, and that’s not our goal.

🫡 A Nonpartisan Mission for Every Veteran

The #ReasonableRanks campaign was founded to give voice to a silent crisis: thousands of service members are honorably discharged during training due to injuries or illnesses and are denied the opportunity to continue their careers in another role. These discharges often come without full benefits, recognition, or support.

This isn’t a red issue. It’s not blue. It’s not left or right.

It’s a veteran issue—and one that calls for unity.

Whether you served in the Marine Corps, Army, Navy, Air Force, or Space Force… whether you voted left, right, or not at all… your service mattered. And if you were injured in service and discharged without options, you deserve better.

🗣️ Open to Dialogue, Open to All

When someone said, “I’d like to talk with you,” it reminded me why we started this movement in the first place. This campaign isn’t about shouting—it’s about listening. Building. Bridging. And getting results.

We are here to engage in conversation with everyone who cares about veterans. That includes:

  • Moderates

  • Conservatives

  • Progressives

  • Independents

  • Apolitical citizens

  • And, most importantly, veterans and their families

💬 Why Language Matters—And Why It Shouldn’t Divide Us

In today’s political climate, words can quickly become walls. But for a movement like this to succeed, we must use language as a ladder—something to reach others, not separate ourselves from them.

We welcome supporters from all walks of life, backgrounds, and beliefs. If you believe that injured service members deserve career reassignment opportunities, continued access to benefits, and recognition for their sacrifice, you are part of this movement.

🚨 The Call to Action

We’re currently pushing toward 200 petition signatures and building momentum with public speeches, community partnerships, and media outreach. But we need your help.

✅ Sign the Petition: https://chng.it/5yXYvkBtMR

✅ Share your story or connect: Email us at support@reasonableranks.org

✅ Help spread the word: No matter your politics, if you care about veterans, you’re one of us.

Final Word

Veteran issues should never be partisan. They are human issues. And the #ReasonableRanks campaign will continue fighting to make sure that no one who raises their right hand to serve is left behind.

We can disagree on policy. We can debate strategy. But we must unite on this truth:

Every injured service member deserves dignity, options, and support.
