Palisades Fire Update: Containment, Evacuation, and Recovery Efforts

As of today, January 25, 2025, the Palisades Fire in Los Angeles County remains active but is now 81% contained, according to CAL FIRE. The wildfire has burned approximately 23,448 acres in the area southeast of Palisades Drive and Calle Victoria, Pacific Palisades. Residents and officials are continuing their coordinated efforts to mitigate the fire’s impact while preparing for potential weather challenges.

Evacuation and Safety Updates

Evacuation orders have been reduced to resident-only access in specific zones, including LOS-0767-I. Residents in these areas can access their properties through law enforcement escorts between 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Entry points are located at Parking Lot 3 Beach Access, 1150 Pacific Coast Highway, Santa Monica. Proof of residency, such as a photo ID with an address, is required for re-entry. A curfew remains in effect for the region.

Repopulation efforts are ongoing, but safety remains a priority. Residents are advised to remain vigilant in fire-affected areas, as hazards such as smoldering trees, downed power lines, and unstable structures persist. Personal protective equipment is being distributed to returning residents by the Department of Public Health.

For the latest evacuation maps, residents can refer to the LA City Evacuation Map and Genasys Evacuation Map.

Upcoming Weather Concerns

The forecast predicts rain this weekend, increasing the risk of mudslides, flooding, and debris flow in fire-affected areas. Residents are urged to prepare by securing sandbags and monitoring emergency alerts. Additional safety tips are available at Ready LA County.

Community Cooperation and Moving Forward

While containment progress continues, the Palisades Fire remains a reminder of the community’s resilience and the importance of preparedness. Fire crews and utility teams will stay on-site to address fire concerns, restore infrastructure, and assist residents. Residents are reminded to adhere to road closures and safety protocols while repopulating affected zones.

For ongoing updates and live briefings, visit CAL FIRE or watch the latest operations update.

The community’s strength and collaboration are evident as residents, first responders, and organizations like WCK work together to overcome the challenges posed by the Palisades Fire. Stay vigilant and safe.
