Palisades Fire Update: January 16, 2025


Overview:

The Palisades Fire in Los Angeles County, located southeast of Palisades Drive and Calle Victoria in Pacific Palisades, has burned 23,713 acres and is currently 27% contained, according to CAL FIRE. The fire remains active, with firefighters and utility crews working diligently to contain it and restore impacted areas.


Current Status

Acreage: 23,713

Containment: 27%

Fire Activity: Active

Community Meeting: Scheduled for 6:30 PM tonight, at Sinai Temple, 10400 Wilshire Blvd, Los Angeles, CA, or streamed live via CAL FIRE YouTube.


Evacuation Updates

Partial Repopulation:

Residents in certain zones are being allowed to return. The following zones have been reopened to residents only:

• LOS - Q0765, LOS - Q1118, LOS - Q0798, LOS - Q0782B, LOS - Q0778A, LOS - Q0781A, LOS - Q0782A, LOS - Q0780.

• Evacuation warnings have also been lifted for zones CAL-C412, CAL-C409, CAL-C410, CAL-C405, CAL-C406, CAL-C408, CAL-C414, and MCR-U021-A.

• Access is restricted to residents with proper identification. For verification, use the Genasys Evacuation Map or input your address into the Genasys search tool.

Road Closures:

Some roads remain closed within the fire perimeter. Residents are advised to check official updates before traveling.


Safety Reminders


Residents reentering their properties should exercise caution:

Utility Hazards: Watch for downed power lines and contact Southern California Edison if spotted. Power may remain out in certain areas.

Generator Use: Adhere to safety guidelines when using backup generators.

Fire-Damaged Areas: Avoid trees and poles with deep charring or smoldering, as they may pose a hazard.

Traffic: Follow all traffic control signs, as emergency personnel and equipment are still in the area.


Support for Evacuees


World Central Kitchen (WCK) is providing meals for evacuees and first responders at several locations, including:

Gasolina Cafe (Woodland Hills)

Collins & Katz Family YMCA (Los Angeles)

Pasadena Community Job Center (Pasadena)

Malibu Brewing Company (Malibu)

Community Efforts


Efforts are ongoing to prepare additional zones for repopulation. The Los Angeles Fire Department, in coordination with CAL FIRE and other agencies, is addressing infrastructure, safety hazards, and utility restoration to expedite the return of displaced residents.


Officials have acknowledged the significant disruption and are prioritizing the safety and well-being of residents. Additional updates will be shared during tonight’s community meeting.
