Serving Veterans with Every Bite: Covenant of Courage Hosts Memorial Day Fundraiser at Lazy Dog
This Memorial Day weekend, Covenant of Courage launched a heartfelt community event in partnership with Lazy Dog Restaurant + Bar in Corona, CA—an initiative that combined delicious food with a powerful mission: supporting injured veterans, youth, and first responders.
Set up just outside the restaurant under a white canopy, Covenant of Courage’s signature black-draped table displayed flyers, bottled water, sign-up forms, and campaign materials—centered around the growing #ReasonableRanks movement. Guests and passersby were invited to show their support by dining at Lazy Dog between May 24–26, with 15% of their bill donated directly to Covenant of Courage’s programs.
“Memorial Day is about honoring sacrifice,” said Kirk Carlson, founder of Covenant of Courage and a U.S. Marine Corps veteran. “This event is a chance to honor that sacrifice by taking action—by supporting the living legacies of those who served.”
The campaign has already gained attention across social platforms, with over 100 petition signatures and growing interest from students, faculty, veteran groups, and local officials. At the heart of the movement is the call for military discharge reform—specifically, creating non-combat reassignment opportunities for injured service members.
By bringing awareness directly to the community and tying it to a widely visited venue like Lazy Dog, Covenant of Courage is demonstrating the impact of grassroots advocacy. Visitors were encouraged to scan a QR code to sign the petition, share their own stories, or volunteer for future events.
As Memorial Day draws near, events like this remind us that remembrance isn’t only about reflection—it’s also about continuing the work to make things right for today’s veterans.
