Vegetation Fire Near Chambers and Gilbert Streets Contained by CAL FIRE

Hemet, Riverside County, CA — A fast-moving vegetation fire broke out in the area of Chambers Street and Gilbert Street in Hemet on Sunday evening. CAL FIRE reported that forward progress of the blaze had been successfully stopped as of 7:06 PM.

The fire, fueled by light brush, was initially moving rapidly westward towards Lyon Avenue and Domenigoni Parkway. Incident Command requested additional resources to bolster firefighting efforts, including:

One Type 3 Engine Strike Team (five engines total)

One Water Tender

Three Additional Engines, bringing the total to five engines

Law Enforcement for traffic control and road closures

Emergency crews worked quickly to contain the fire and prevent further spread, with Incident Command coordinating efforts to mitigate risks to nearby areas. The situation necessitated road closures along Domenigoni Parkway to ensure public safety and allow unobstructed access for firefighting teams.

Local residents were advised to remain vigilant, though no evacuation orders were issued. The prompt response and coordination by CAL FIRE and supporting agencies played a critical role in halting the fire’s progress before it could threaten structures or escalate further.

Updates on the incident will be provided as new information becomes available.
