95 Strong — and Growing: A Grassroots Movement for Veterans’ Rights
By Kirk Carlson, USMC Veteran | Founder, Covenant of Courage
As of today, the #ReasonableRanks petition has reached 95 signatures.
That’s 95 voices speaking up for injured veterans.
95 people who believe that getting hurt in the line of duty should not be the end of a military career.
95 citizens, students, veterans, and advocates demanding change.
And we’re just getting started.
Why #ReasonableRanks Exists
Too many service members are being discharged after injury, even when they still have the skills, strength, and desire to serve in non-combat or support roles. The military system, as it stands, has no clear path for reassignment or career continuation—only separation.
The result? Veterans are stripped of their careers, purpose, and in many cases, their retirement benefits.
That’s not just a policy gap—it’s a moral failure.
What We’re Fighting For
The #ReasonableRanks campaign calls on the Department of Defense and Congress to:
Create reassignment pathways for non-combat roles
Protect retirement and healthcare benefits for those discharged due to injury
End systemic discharges that disregard a veteran’s ability to continue serving in other capacities
What 95 Signatures Represent
Every name on that petition represents someone who sees the injustice—and wants to fix it. That number includes:
Veterans who’ve lived it
Family members who’ve witnessed it
Civilians who care deeply about how we treat those who’ve sacrificed for this country
95 is not just a number. It’s a movement in motion.
What’s Next
We’re closing in on 100 signatures—and from there, we’ll continue growing. But to make real change, we need more than numbers. We need stories, supporters, and systems that refuse to leave injured veterans behind.
