Civilian Service, Global Impact — Honoring the Families Behind the Mission
Thank you so much for your kind words—and for sharing your story.
Your mom’s 25 years of service as Civilian Support Personnel with the Department of Defense Dependent Schools (DoDDS) is a powerful reminder that the military community is so much bigger than uniforms alone.
For decades, civilians like your mom have helped keep military families connected, supported, and educated—often while living overseas in unfamiliar countries and sacrificing stability so others can serve. Teachers, nurses, counselors, clerks, and administrators have quietly held together the fabric of life on base and off. They are essential to mission readiness, even though they don’t often wear the medals to prove it.
You—and fellow DoD school alumni—carry forward a unique perspective. You grew up with military families, witnessed deployments, and saw firsthand what service looks like behind the scenes.
At #ReasonableRanks, we’re fighting to expand that same recognition to injured veterans who still want to serve in non-combat or support roles. Because the military is more than combat—and every contribution matters.
Thank you again for standing with us, and for reminding us that service takes many forms—each one deserving of respect.
