📢 #ReasonableRanks Campaign Update: July 2025

ree

Veterans Deserve a Future, Not a Discharge

The #ReasonableRanks campaign continues to build momentum as we fight for a simple but powerful mission: career reassignment—not automatic discharge—for injured service members who are still willing and able to serve.

Since launching our petition earlier this year, we’ve hit several key milestones:

✅ Campaign Milestones

  • 284 signatures and climbing — With support growing daily, our message is reaching veterans, families, and public officials across the country.

  • Official Letter of Support from the City of Corona, CA — Mayor Jim Steiner and the City Council have joined our call for equitable military discharge reform.

  • Public Speaking Engagements — Covenant of Courage founder Kirk Carlson has addressed audiences from community centers to houses of worship, including Beth Shalom in Corona and the Janet Goeske Foundation.

  • Fundraising Success — Thanks to local sponsors like Lazy Dog Restaurant and dozens of individual donors, we’ve raised critical funds to fuel outreach and education efforts.

  • Nextdoor, Facebook, and Local Media Exposure — Despite occasional content moderation hurdles, our team is actively connecting with neighbors, city leaders, and media outlets to get the message out.

🎯 What’s Next

We’re actively reaching out to:

  • All city councils in Riverside County, Los Angeles County, San Diego, Nevada, Wisconsin, and Illinois

  • Veterans’ organizations, legal advocates, and disability rights groups

  • Local and national media to cover the hidden epidemic of honorable but unsupported discharges.

We are also working to secure:

  • Additional letters of support

  • Public resolutions from county supervisors

  • Partnerships with military chaplains, installation leadership, and civil rights attorneys

🛡️ Why It Matters

More than 66,000 U.S. service members are listed as non-deployable due to injury or illness—but many are still capable of serving in stateside or support roles. Current policies force them out, often without adequate transition support or recognition.

That’s not just a waste of talent—it’s a betrayal of those who swore to serve.

#ReasonableRanks demands that Congress and the Department of Defense:

  • Create clear reassignment pathways

  • Uphold the rights of injured, LGBTQ+, and light-duty personnel

  • Honor service members through dignified retention—not involuntary discharge
