Your Story Matters: Join the Fight for Military Discharge Reform

Your Story Matters: Join the Fight for Military Discharge Reform

Too many injured service members have been discharged—not because they couldn't serve, but because the system failed to see how they still could.

Were you reassigned to light duty or an administrative role after an injury, only to be discharged without the opportunity to continue your military career? Were you denied retirement, transition support, or VA benefits due to a medical separation that didn’t account for your potential?

If that sounds like your experience, we want to hear from you.

🛡️ Why Your Testimony Matters

At Covenant of Courage, we’ve launched the #ReasonableRanks Campaign to push for legislative and policy reform that allows injured service members to continue in non-combat roles. But we can’t do it alone.

To make real change happen, we’re collecting testimonies from veterans across all branches who faced:

  • Medical discharges after successful light-duty reassignment

  • Denied reasonable accommodations

  • Lost retirement eligibility due to injury

  • VA benefit reductions or complications from early separation

  • Missed opportunities to transition into civilian DoD or federal roles

These stories will form the backbone of our national testimony project, which will be submitted to Congress, the Department of Defense, veteran-focused nonprofits, and the media.

📝 How to Share Your Story

We’re making it simple and safe to share your experience. You can:

  • Submit your written story (1–2 paragraphs) using our secure [Google Form or email submission]

  • Remain anonymous if you prefer

  • Include documentation if you feel comfortable (optional but helpful)

🔗 Submit Your Story Here — Click here

We’re especially looking for:

  • Military role & branch

  • Year of discharge

  • Nature of your injury

  • Whether you served on light duty/admin role before discharge

  • How your career or benefits were affected

💬 Real Change Starts With Real Stories

We believe that no veteran should be cast aside when they still have more to give. Your voice can help bring justice—not just for you, but for every future veteran who may face the same choice: discharge or nothing.

Let’s change that.
